I managed to get my new we server running with a test site, [http://grlucas.com/ grlucas.com], and the {{NMS}} [http://normanmailersociety.org/ web site]. I tried to get Wordpress working, but had difficulty making a database connection through the web. MySQL is working fine on the command line, but something is justified  not jiving between it and <code>PHP</code>. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

Database Frustrations and Peach Blossoms covid-19: day 13 | US: GA | info | act

I managed to get my new we server running with a test site, grlucas.com, and the Norman Mailer Society web site. I tried to get Wordpress working, but had difficulty making a database connection through the web. MySQL is working fine on the command line, but something is justified not jiving between it and PHP. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

I also could not get certbot installed to grab my HTTPS certificates. Something is up with the apt repository. Just something else to figure out.

But Henry wanted to to take his new bike to Wesleyan. It was a beautiful day, so how could I say no? I had to put these issues aside, and I never was able to get back to them today.

And speaking of Wesleyan: a guard said the campus was closed as we drove in. I felt bad for Henry. We tried an empty church parking lot, but it was too slopey, and Henry could not pedal on his own. I think the bike is just a bit too big—an heavy—for him right now, but he’ll grow into it.

Later, Autumn wanted to take Henry to a peach orchard to take some spring photographs in the blossoms. I also used the opportunity to get my motorcycle back. I had dropped it off for what I thought was its first-year maintenance, and it sat there for a week. Turns out, when I called to check on it, that its first service isn’t until 6000 miles. When did they know that? How easy would a phone call have been, folks?

Henry wasn’t into it, but I got a few nice shots among the blossoms.

The ride home was wonderful—the weather really couldn’t have been better. I took the long way through downtown Macon, riding through Amerson Park, just to see if it was still open. It was, and a decent amount of people were taking advantage. I wonder, though, if by riding, I’m really not social distancing?

In today’s sonnet, the theme continues: the poet sure wants this guy to have children. There seems to references to masturbation here.

Sonnet 4
By: William Shakespeare • Read by: Patrick Stewart

Unthrifty loveliness, why dost thou spend
Upon thy self thy beauty’s legacy?
Nature’s bequest gives nothing, but doth lend,
And being frank she lends to those are free:
Then, beauteous niggard, why dost thou abuse 5
The bounteous largess given thee to give?
Profitless usurer, why dost thou use
So great a sum of sums, yet canst not live?
For having traffic with thy self alone,
Thou of thy self thy sweet self dost deceive: 10
Then how when nature calls thee to be gone,
What acceptable audit canst thou leave?
Thy unused beauty must be tombed with thee,
Which, used, lives th’ executor to be.
