Tallulah Gorge State Park covid-19: day 247 | US: GA | info | act

For the first day of our Thanksgiving vacation, we traveled to Tallulah Gorge State Park. Autumn has always wanted to stop there, but we never have since it’s at about the half-way point between Macon and Dad’s house. However, this year, we planned it out and left early enough to take in a bit of the park. Yes, COVID is a bit of a concern, and we probably wouldn’t be going at all if we could have gotten out of our cabin rental.

There were too many people there. Though we were outside, the trail was close the whole time, and at least half of the people were not wearing masks. Yeah, good idea: traversing steep trails and breathing hard would make mask-wearing inconvenient. White people arrogance, or is it ignorance? Willful idiocy?

While crowded, the park still had a bit of fall color that greeted us immediately.

We made the trek down to the gorge floor—all one million stairs that we would have to climb back up. Henry and Autumn took a couple of breaks along the way. We crossed the suspension bridge before we went down even further.

After the climb back up, we took in some more vistas before Henry called it a day.

In all, it was a fun beginning to our Thanksgiving break in the mountains.
