Henry’s hair has been long for a while now, and it always seems to get in his way. Autumn and I let him have it that way because he seemed to like it, even though it sent the wrong gender cues prompting strangers to say things like “isn’t she a pretty little girl.” This never frustrated Henry; he would just matter-of-factly say back to them, “I’m a boy.” No biggie.
Still, like a boy, he made no real effort to take care of his long hair, so it was often knotty and found its way into his mouth with his dinner. He always seemed to be brushing it out of his face, so we began to ask him if he wanted a haircut. At first, it was always a resolute “no.” Then, on day, he said “yes.” Well, we know that Henry is fickle, so we heard a few more negatives before he landed on his most recent and consistent answer: “tomorrow.” With “tomorrow,” he could keep putting it off indefinitely because tomorrow never came.
Well, today was finally tomorrow. Autumn convinced him to get a bob.
I’m not sure if this will solve any of his hair issues, and I’m not sure of Autumn’s barbering skills, but he still looks pretty cool.
