New Read & Spring “Operational Changes” covid-19: day 200 | US: GA | info | act
So I gave up on Shatterpoint. It’s not that is was a bad novel—the world-building was pretty good; Mace Windu was fairly well developed; it was more of an adult Star Wars with war crimes and other atrocities—but . . . maybe the pacing is off? No, it’s not boring, as there is plenty of action, some of which might seem a bit forced, it’s just something I can’t put my finger on. Maybe I feel like I should be spending my time on more literary works. As much as I like Star Wars, reading about the Force is too YA for me.
That said, I have started Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel Slaughterhouse-Five. Already I feel better, even after just the first chapter. I’ve not read much Vonnegut, and I plan to address my inexcusable neglect starting now.
And welcome to day 200 of our COVID-19 nightmare, with no relief in sight. EduCorp™ Middle management just informed us via email about some “operational changes” coming in the spring to “enhance campus presence”:
“ | Specifically, in spring of 2021 we will not offer partially online classes, and the hyflex method of delivery will no longer be an option. Classes will either be online, fully face-to-face, or hybrid—with hybrid defined as being at least 51% face to face. Translation: the insanity not only continues, but get ready for it to be kicked-up. You all will be required to be on campus even more this spring. Why? Well, that’s what we’re doing ’cause we need that resident income. Let’s continue the nightmare by risking you and your families even more.
The failure of leadership continues.
