The weather was a bit ominous this morning, but I thought I’d chance it and take the {{GS}} on a ride. The clouds were heavy and dark, but scattered and blown around by the occasional wind gust. I headed west toward Thomaston via the usual route. I thought about continuing on toward Callaway Gardens, but after consulting Google Maps, I took a back road southeast out of Thomaston. It was curvy, hilly, and the sun and blue sky started peeking through the clouds. I don’t think I passed one car in 20 miles until I got to US-80.

I discovered two more lovely back roads: Hopewell Road to Musella (the eastern part I had ridden several times before), and US-42 between Roberta and Byron. The former is a tighter two-lane that rolls through the small hills—just beautiful and not well traveled. The latter was a bit more crowded, but what a road it turned out to be: a wide two-lane, super-curvy strip that took me right into downtown Byron. I will do these again.

2022: Here We Go

I wish I could say I’m sanguine about 2022, but the last two years have been as nasty as a fresh cat turd on my new rug. I’m going to take it one day at a time. I will try to find something positive about everyday. I will try to be present, patient, mindful, and positive, though these qualities are generally antithetical to my nature.

I will begin the new year with a long motorcycle ride after a morning with my family.

Happy new year, all.

The weather was a bit ominous this morning, but I thought I’d chance it and take the BMW R 1200 GS on a ride. The clouds were heavy and dark, but scattered and blown around by the occasional wind gust. I packed the Leica SL wearing the Summicron 2/35 and headed west toward Thomaston via the usual route.

Giles, you missed out. 😉
