The Days Get Away covid-19: day 657 | US: GA | info | act

Has it really been seven days since my last journal post? Ugh. The days pass quickly like good times.

The spring 2022 semester began yesterday, and I had 100% attendance in my only face-to-face course. Most were wearing masks, and after I encouraged them, they all put a mask on. All went well, but I need to make a seating chart.

My online students are trickling in, as usual. For some reason, at least half of the students in my 1102 are in high school. Hm. I’m not sure what that portends. Maybe they’ll be good. I guess I’ll find out. I’ve never, to my knowledge, taught high school students before.

I finished the second season of For All Mankind last night, and I really enjoyed it. The build-up to the final episode was done well, and it even gave a hint to what the next season will be about and when it will occur: Mars in the mid-nineties. It looks like they’ll just forward another decade between seasons. I’m looking forward to it, but still no indication when it’s coming out. I think I’m going to watch Station Eleven next.

Henry got a predictable back-to-school funk. Autumn has given him several COVID tests, and fortunately they have all come back negative. It’s just a winter cold. Poor dude. He got a little short with me yesterday; apparently I was nagging him too much and he gave a grunt of frustration before he stomped his foot and walked away. I apologized. Goodness knows I don’t want to be that kind of parent. In my defense, he was trying to hang from my Accord’s back door—something I’ve asked him several times not to do. Ah, well. He got real penitent when he later asked for screentime.
