Spring Break 2022 covid-19: day 727 | US: GA | info | act

Another lovely trip to the beach is over, and Spring Break will be soon, as well. The drive back to Macon was a bit of bear, mostly because of the 45-minute delay south of Ocala for what appeared to be absolutely nothing. We stopped at Trader Joe’s in Gainesville, then hit Tijuana Flats for a to-go lunch. I was over driving by the time we hit the Florida/Georgia border, but we still had a couple of hours to go. I muscled through, and we were home by 18:30. The weather was lovely and dropped as we headed north. We were greeted by blooming cherry blossoms. I’m glad we didn’t miss them.

I have to again think my best friend Kip and his family for their generosity. I just can’t communicate how much this means to us—how much Henry loves the beach and how much we all truly need the time we have there for rest and recuperation from an increasingly hostile world. Their house is a sanctuary—one we treasure in our what’s becoming an annual getaway. Thanks, again, Kip. Your generosity means more than you know. I hope that we can replay it somehow.

The end of spring break marks the last month of the semester. I know I have a full inbox already, but I’m putting off diving back into the fray until Monday. I finished my presentation for Tuesday, but I have to post a quiz for The Man Who Would be King by Tuesday. I also have to make my reservations for the Mailer Conference in June. I know there’s likely another COVID-19 outbreak in our near future, but the world has decided that it doesn’t give a shit. That does not mitigate my general feeling of dread.

Yeah, spring break is over.
