Happy Monday covid-19: day 688 | US: GA | info | act

I now have a Windows 11 virtual machine. I followed Techno Tim's video to install, and it went mostly without a problem.[1] Man, Proxmox continues to impress. I'm typing this post on Windows 11 after I did some software installation. I know it's going to start bothering me for a license key, but I'm not having much luck coming up with one.

Win11 running virtually on Proxmox. I'm connected through Remote Desktop.

After my class this morning, I returned the monitors I borrowed to IT. Since I was over there, I popped in to the Tech Resources Center. I've been trying to get Windows licenses, you know like I could in the old days. After talking with the man in charge via the secretary through his office's privacy glass, I left empty-handed. I figured I would. The guy couldn't even be bothered to come out and talk with me. I think I know who it was, and I'm not surprised. So, I still have no licenses. You'd think that I could get one through the university with the amount of money I'm sure the state of Georgia gives to Microsoft every year. I don't even mind purchasing my own, but I an not paying $200 for it. Surely, I should be able to get an educator's discount. WTH?!

I am still planning on installing pfSense to virtualize the network, but I don't know when I'll get to it. I have some other pressing matters to get to, so it may have to wait for a little while.

Today is Meatless Monday in the Lucas household, so I made my famous garlic chickpeas for dinner. I lost the recipe years ago, so I made it from memory. It turned out pretty well.

Happy Monday, all.

notes

  1. OK, it wouldn't boot, giving me an error when trying to access the CD-ROM drive, but after turning off secure boot, I was golden.
