September Already!
Wait, August just started! I read something disturbing the other day: once you reach 40, you blink and then you’re 60. Well, my 53rd birthday was a couple of weeks ago, so just seven more years for me. My forties are a blur. Crap. The good news is that I have a month until my week-long motorcycle trip, then it’ll be Thanksgiving.
Henry’s seventh birthday is tomorrow. Dad used to write me a poem for my birthdays, and I feel like I should be doing something equally creative for Henry. How do you write a poem? asks the English professor.
I spent much of this week grading. I know that this is the idea when our classes are packed. I am making progress on our two book projects: Reflections is almost finished. We’re awaiting bios from the contributors, then it’s off to the printer. Lipton’s has more to do: the index will take a bit longer to finish. I found over-fifty entries just in the introduction, and we’re only doing names and titles. I see creating an idea is a bit more challenging than I thought, especially doing a thematic one.
Oh, and thanks to Giles for making a new landing-page image for normanmailersociety.org
. I think it looks great, though I should probably change the color of the menu bar to something more matchy. And speaking of the Norman Mailer Society, we posted our call for papers for the 2023 conference.
