Three from the Jupiter covid-19: day 338 | US: GA | info | act

I am always pleased when I see images from the Jupiter-8 2/50. It has that lower-contrast, classic rendering that nothing else I have approaches—maybe the Industar 61. The images I took today were no exception, but I put the final versions through Color Efex Pro for a bit more of the cross-processed look. That somehow seems appropriate. Even Henry’s shirt gets in on the retro vibe.

These images make me really want to try a Jupiter 9. I could get one of those for about $250, but I’m not sure if that would satisfy. I really want that Helios 40, but I’d probably get more use out of the Jupiter. There's also the Takumar 1.8/85, though that might be a bit too contemporary of a rendering. I really want something unique for this special-purpose lens. I’m shooting some friends’ wedding next month, and I really think the Helios 40 would be a pretty sweet lens to give them some truly cool shots, but I would need to get it soon in order to practice with that behemoth. The wedding will take place in the mountains, and there will likely be spring colors—the natural habitat of this Russian.
