From Gerald R. Lucas

So High School

Look at me. Driving an ’80-something Volkswagen Cabriolet with my longish hippy hair sporting a Led Zeppelin t-shirt like I’m living in 1985. Too-cool-for-school, man. This is who I was and who I wanted to be in the eighties, really. I would have been happy riding around Bradenton with the top down in my totally rad Rabbit and youth still on my side. I wanted one of these convertibles so badly.

This is Kip’s beach car, and he suggested I drive it while I’m here. It’s showing its age, but man is it fun. I’m not sure if the people are staring at the car—you really don’t see these much anymore—or the old man with purple hair driving it. Either way, it takes me back, and for the short drive to pick up dinner, I felt like I was driving through 1985.

Thanks, Kip.

A couple of days later, I took two photos with the Pentax 67 📷 (Kodak Portra 400 🎞 Takumar 2.4/105) in a park just around the corner. Neither are great, they are better than my selfie.
