From Gerald R. Lucas

I finished The Testaments last night, and I really enjoyed it. The TV series has already incorporated a couple of important points into the show; I wonder if the next season (hopefully the last) will take up this sequel’s narrative. Lydia’s redemption arc would be lovely to watch—particularly her ultimate perfidy toward Gilead. I’d also like to see the creepy Commander Judd on the small screen. I could easily see the next season of The Handmaid’s Tale pick up here. Let’s hope.

I’ve been working on my fall syllabi. Brit Lit online will be a challenge—mostly because I’ve never taught it before—and it being a session course will not mitigate the difficulty. I need to underdo rather than overdo. ENGL 1102 should be fine; I just have to figure out a couple of good paper topics. I’m thinking about having them analyze and interpret one of their favorite songs. I might get a lot of junk.

I’ve also begun working on the book version of Lipton’s Journal in earnest. Giles asked for an RTF, so this will take me some time to put together. At least I’ll be able to go back through and tweak the earlier entries to match the later. Like anything else, I got better at the coding and format as I went along.
