Pentax 6×7 MU.JPG

I’ve seriously been thinking about getting a medium-format camera. Specifically, a Pentax 67. I really think it was the work of Richard Beaven that pushed me over the edge. His portraits are amazing, especially this in his All of Us project. Inspiring. I want to take images like that. Apparently he uses a Pentax 67 and the Takumar 105mm f/2.5 lens. Magical.

Here’s my idea: a yearly portrait of Henry as he grows up. He picks the outfit, accessories, and location for the photos. I shoot a whole roll of film. Bam. It becomes a tradition for as long as I can do it.

The Pentax 67ii kits are pricy, but I think that’s what I want. The ergonomics and aperture priority might make the additional cost worth it. I think that my years of using manual-focus lenses and the Leica M have given me adequate preparation to take my photography to the next level. Maybe an original 67 would be fine, then. Why not go fully manual? Maybe.

At least, I have to dig out my Holga.
