Not This Year

Today, I received my rejection for my proposed project for the fellowship at the Harry Ransom Center this summer. I’m disappointed, but this would have been a difficult summer to go to Austin for a month. That said, I do have to get started on this monograph, if I’m serious. Mike told me that the rejection is likely due to the fact that the stories have been published, so they might have thought that my need to review archive material was less than other projects. Fair enough. I’m going to have to find a way to make my proposal sexier next time. If there is a next time.

I thought my proposal was pretty solid, and I was really looking forward to what I found in the archive. Like looking through the stacks in the library, I thought I would come across some gems that I hadn’t discovered in my initial electronic searches. Oh, well. Moving on.
