From Gerald R. Lucas
I’m baking again.
Yes, and I’m loving it. There’s nothing like fresh bread. Period. It’s as good as a first kiss, as fulfilling as a short story by Chekhov, and as beautiful as a four-course meal. And, like all of these things, it takes patience and devotion to obtain. Sure, you can go to you local baker, that is, if you’re lucky enough to have one in your town that bakes real bread. I’m not, unfortunately. So, I have to make my own. While I’m no expert, I have learned a thing or two in the last couple of years. It is a subtle art, however — one that I’ll probably be practicing for the rest of my years on this planet.
Thanks again to my buddy Kip for getting me started.
