Skip Day

Since Kip was visiting, I skipped work today. We started with a chicken biscuit from Bird Bird Biscuit. I had the Queen Beak again, and yes, it was just as delicious as the first time. For our penance, we did a nature walk at Mayfield Park and Nature Reserve and visited with the peacocks. We then checked out the capitol building, so I could visit the portrait of my favorite Texas governor Dick Coke. Kip took a photo of two Nepalese tourists who were very friendly and insisted that we have a photos with them, for some reason: maybe so they can show all their friends that they met some real Americans in the wild. Finally, we had lunch at Jewboy’s Subs and talked politics. Kip dropped me off about 15:00 so he could make his flight, and I walked to H.E.B. (pronounced HEEB, we decided) for some necessities.

Last night, we went downtown and walked around a bit, hoping to hear some live music. It reminded us both of Bourbon Street, so we didn’t spend too much time doing that. However, I would remiss if I didn’t mention the best burger I’ve had this year at NADC Burger. If you ever go to Austin, you must have this burger. Must. Have. While Kip later admitted that he was not enthused about having a burger, and only went along because I wanted to, he admitted to thoroughly enjoying it. My photo doesn’t do it justice. Just try it.
