Updates and Tweaks
Apparently, I had not updated the MediaWiki software since 2022. I used to do it annually during the winter break, and I thought I had done it last year. I did not, which just goes to show how robust MediaWiki is. That said, when I update, I discover new goodness. For example, each page can now have a short description that will appear under the page title and help with site searches. I’m not sure that I’ll go back to my thousands of pages and add descriptions, but it’s a cool feature that Wikipedia has had for a while.
So, I’ve spent a bit of time getting to know my new theme, Citizen. I have tweaked some of the site to take advantage of its features, but I still have more to do; e.g., tables don’t look right. Surprisingly, most of the site looks pretty good without having to update much. However, I’m thinking it might be time to update the orange color on the logo; maybe change the violet default color of the navigation box below. So much potential: that’s why I like MediaWiki so much and have been using it for so long. I need to get these things nailed down so I can begin designing my spring courses.
