From Gerald R. Lucas

To Autumn, on Her Fortieth Year

When Georgia skies first saw your gentle birth,
The world was graced with kindness rare and true.
Your smile, a beacon proving love’s great worth,
Lights paths for all who share this life with you.
Through twenty years, our hearts have interwound, 5
In laughter, joy, and bonds no time could break.
A love that blossoms, evergreen and sound,
Stronger than winds that distant tempests wake.
A mother’s heart you bear for Max and Hen,
A warmth that shelters, nurtures, and inspires. 10
You gave your all, time and again and then,
Rose higher still to kindle family’s fires.
May years ahead bring rides and dreams anew,
For still, my Autumn, all my love is you.

Happy birthday, Autumn. I love you.
