More Ends

My last day of Grand Jury duty was yesterday. Thank goodness. How do I get in to these things? I’d love to report that this experience was a good one, but it just highlights the deficiencies of our society and how life seems to be so misdirected. Most crime is so petty and just betrays how irrational and selfish we are. Police exist to protect the interest of the rich, disposing of the inconvenient poor by criminalizing any aspect of their lives that would make them bearable. Yet, getting these cases one after another for hours makes them banal. Boring. Trivial. And there’s a whole aspect of all these people’s lives centered around “law and order.” I’m glad it’s over, though I’m sure to be called again soon.

To top it off, I have a headache all day—something that is lingering from my whole COVID experience. I am feeling better, but I’m still not at 100%.

There are still not many submissions from my class that ended yesterday. Their final pager and exam are due on Friday, and I expect most at the last minute. That’s inconvenient, as we’re going to Jekyll Island this weekend for a bit of family beach time and to see Cason receive an award for his work. Congrats to him. Obviously, I know little about it right now, but will learn more on Saturday.
