Oscar, Gertrude, Morgan, Elizabeth.jpg

Mom sent this photo to me today, saying “Dad, mom, Morgan and Elizabeth in our old apt.” “Dad” is Oscar, my grandfather, “mom” is Gertrude, my grandmother, Elizabeth is my cousin, daughter of Ronnie and Barbara, and I'm assuming Morgan is the dog. Elizabeth is a bit older than I, I think, so this is in 1969, as confirmed by yesterday’s photo.

My grandmother has always looked the same to me, and I guess my grandfather has, too. I didn't know him very well; he died when Mom, Dad, Tim, and I lived in Florida — probably in the late-seventies. I did know my grandmother a bit better — I lived in Cincinnati in the late-eighties, and she and I used to have lunch regularly. She would often help me out financially, too. I know she loved me, but she never really seemed happy.
