Month of Mailer

I begin my fellowship at the Harry Ransom Center on June 4 at the University of Texas. I’ll be leaving Monday on the BMW R 1200 GS and taking a couple to days to ride to Austin, hopefully clearing my head of recent preoccupations and getting it ready for some real work. I have to put together a book proposal for the project on short fiction and get my primary research agenda in order. I’m staying about 1.5 miles from the university in a small cottage I rented for the month. I’ve been to Austin a couple of times, but this will be the longest I’ve spent there. I’m looking forward to getting to know the city a bit better. Autumn and the boys will join me in the last week.

I’m planning on using this journal to keep my research/travel notes. It should be interesting.
