Every time you re-evaluate (assignments, teaching approach, the state of your students), the process gets better. You've got their failed elementary and middle school educations to wade through. At least these are 1101 students; there are MBA candidates here who seem to assume that future firms will accept oral reports. Sometimes a sentence at a time is all we can do.

As for perfunctory: today was the loveliest spring day, warm and sunny, and I couldn't stop staring out the window. It's a tough time of year for Sinbad and alligators and ethical dilemmas. Good luck with them on essay three -- do try to keep your fingers intact.

I think someone already beat you to the forehead carving level...I still can't laugh about that ordeal. Ugh.

I do hope that today's vigorous run and yummy lunch helped to clear your sweet head. Keep trying to inspire your kids...maybe someday something will click. If not, you're still sharp and you can never moan about a lack of effort on your part.

They don't have to be there. A college education is a priviledge and not a right.

If they do not feel like writing, they can always take up another profession, such as saying the all-important phrase, "Would you like fries with that?" The world needs fast food clerks as well!
