August 12 – August 18: Introduction and Orientation
Welcome to the first lesson. This week, we’ll get you all set to do well in the course and introduce yourself to us in the forum.

Before we can get going, we have a few preliminary steps that must be taken. The first will be to follow the instructions and create an account on the class forum, called Discourse. Be sure to follow the directions closely, so you can learn to use the forum correctly. In order to take the quizzes and tests, you will need a Google account, which you likely already have. Both of these accounts are necessary to complete the lessons in this class. Once you set up your account on the forum, click the “Respond” button below to introduce yourself.
In the box below are the instructions for completing the lesson. Click “Expand” on the right to view them. These will appear at the top of all subsequent lessons for your convenience. Once you have read through them, you should complete the lesson.

Once again, in case it’s not obvious by now, this class does not use D2L. Everything you need is on this site or linked off of it. If you are ever unsure of what you’re supposed to do, always come back to this site and refer to your syllabus.
![]() | Tip: Remember, you can always get assistance with anything on the class forum. If you need assistance with Wikipedia, try the Wikipedia help forum. Finally, you can also get help at the help desk or the Teahouse. ✏️ |
