Welcome to ENGL 1101: English Composition I.
Fall 2024, MW 11–12:15 (CRN 80939); TR 11–12:15 (CRN 80365)

ENGL 1101 teaches students to be engaged and critical college-level readers and writers. ENGL 1101 is an intensive writing course; plan to read and write for every class. Students will complete several formal essays, keep a writing journal, analyze and interpret texts, discourse about current social issues, research and support ideas, collaborate and peer-edit, and learn the foundations for effective communication and ethical participation in college and beyond.

Previous Knowledge Do Well Avoiding Plagiarism Editor’s Checklist Reading in College
Prerequisite	Satisfactory placement test score or successful completion of Learning Support English and Reading.
Description	ENGL 1101 teaches skills required for effective writing in a variety of contexts, with emphasis on exposition, analysis, argumentation, and research.
Classroom Hours	Three (3) per week.
Credit Hours	Three (3) credits.
