LIT 2000.001: Introduction to Contemporary Literature

Introduction to Contemporary American Literature will explore various forms of “literary” discourse since 1945. Our survey will include traditional literary forms (novel, short story, poetry, drama, etc.) that examine “postmodern” issues, and forms from popular culture (songs, film, television shows, etc.) that challenge our notions of literature, or the processes of reading and writing. This section of LIT 2000 meets in a computer-assisted classroom, CPR-202. While no expertise is required, an enthusiastic willingness to work with computers is a must. You should be familiar and comfortable with using a Web browser and willing to use a computer for on-line interaction outside of class. This class does not require any particular computer skills, but there is an on-line component to the class.
