Mary Madonna Rahe was born in Cincinnati, OH at Good Samaritan Hospital on April 13, 1944. She was awarded a Miraculous Medal, since she was a small child and almost died of dehydration. She is the third child of Oscar and Gertrude Rahe. She has two brothers, Denis and Ronnie (d. 1978), and a younger sister, Gail.
Early Life
She took the name “Elizabeth”—her mother’s middle name—at her confirmation.[a]
