06/25–07/01: Peer Reviews

This week, you will be writing peer reviews of each other's articles. Work should continue, too, on your Wikipedia projects. You should be writing a bit every day from this point forward.

Read

  • Carroll, ch. 7, “Blogito Ergo Sum” and ch. 8, “Journalism in a Digital Age.”
  • Editing Wikipedia,” pp. 12 and 14.

Do

  • Peer review an article.[1] (Even if the student assigned to the article has not made many (or any) edits, you should still evaluate the article and give some advice on how to proceed with edits. As you know, you can find a list of students and assigned articles on the class dashboard.)
  • Discussion: Thinking about Wikipedia.

Write

  • Post your peer review on the user’s talk page, as the peer review exercise above instructs. This should be about a paragraph that summarizes your review of the article they’re working on. Please note, while your classmate may not have done much editing on the article (yet), your review will help him/her determine what needs to be addressed.
    • Comment on your peer review.
  • Make improvements to your project article. You should make at least one improvement, like adding a source.

Note

  1. You might pair up for this exercise, each reviewing each other’s article.
