Lyle Lovett

What a show! Lyle Lovett played at the Macon City Auditorium last night, and it might have been the best concert I’ve seen in a long time. I could have listened to this quintet all night. They played a mixture of Lovett’s tunes and covered some bluegrass and gospel. Lovett told stories in between songs, and mixed his quirky sense of humor in his stories and the set list.

Since his band was essentially a bluegrass combo, he really couldn’t do many of my favorite songs, like “She’s Already Made Up Her Mind” and “North Dakota.” Though I do think they could have handled “Church.” Still, his set list was fun. If you get the chance, go see him.

It was a great date night. Autumn and I ate at the Oliver’s Corner Bistro—I had the chicken pesto pasta, and it was excellent. Autumn had the gnocchi. We had a quick beer from Just Tap’d before the show. In all, it was a great evening, and helped shake me out of my funk.

Thanks, again, Lyle Lovett. And come back any time.
