Cheat Day & Watching covid-19: day 258 | US: GA | info | act

For cheat day, I made a calzone with tater tots, macaroni and cheese, and chicken nuggets. I topped the pile with Slayer sauce and baked. It was delicious. I was so excited to eat, I forgot to take a photo. I would make a shitty influencer.

I wanted Tenet this afternoon. Like most of Nolan’s stuff: it was freaky. I’m not sure I got it, really, at all. I understood the feeling of the film, but the details remain vague. There was a big battle scene at the end, but I wasn’t sure who was fighting. Our protagonist—he actually calls himself that—was involved, and they were trying to get the various pieces of this future computer which contains “the algorithm” of the earth’s destruction, but it was really confusing. There was a blue team, and red team, and I guess the opposition team. John David Washington was excellent, and the fight scenes were visceral and well executed. One took place in a kitchen where Washington’s character used a box grater as a weapon. Ouch. Kenneth Branagh was also very good as the Russian heavy. I would have to watch it again for clarity, but who has the time?

I’m also about finished with HBO Max’s The Undoing. I have one more episode. While I appreciate the miniseries format, I think this one could have been a film, really. It spends a lot of time on Nicole Kidman acting. She does a good job, but I often want the show to get on with it. It’s cool to see an older Hugh Grant, too. Hopefully I’ll wrap this up by the weekend’s end.

For Saturday Family Movie Night, we watched The Muppet Movie. This is one I had seen many times as a child, probably on HBO. I remember it fondly, especially many of the musical numbers. I’m not sure Henry liked it as much.

I have to start another book. I’m considering Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Astrophysics for People in a Hurry. Or maybe Left Hand of Darkness.
