I began reading The Fellowship of the Rings again today. Watching the making of Jackson’s film (due out next week), I realized that I don’t remember too much from my original readings of the trilogy — the last of which probably took place in high school, over a decade-and-a-half ago. (God, I’m getting old, but that’s the topic of another post.) So, in order to refresh my neurons and perhaps build some more, I have picked up Tolkien’s book and am working my way through it before I see the film. I’ve never been a huge fan, preferring writers like Moorcock and Donaldson for my fantasy fixes. I know: if it hadn't been for Tolkien... I pay him the proper homage and obeisance by bowing to the linguistic hobbit master.

So far, it's been fun. I just need to find time to read. I only have a week.
