Trioplan Test and a Walk covid-19: day 263 | US: GA | info | act

New camera requires tests. Today, I took the Fujifilm X-T30 with me on my morning walk and tried the M42 adaptor to mount the Trioplan. The latter gave OK results; I’m keen to try it for portraits. For the former, I used the 23mm Fujicron and walked over to Oxford Circle. But first the Trioplan samples.

This lens is pretty soft, and is about a 150mm equivalent on the X-T30. I turned the focus peaking on, as it seems to give me the best results. Still, these images seem soft with that vintage glow. I think it’s just too long for a crop sensor: I really need a full-frame camera for it, as evidenced by this photo taken with the Sony α7R. This is definitely a specialized lens. Here’s a selfie:

Nothing special, really. Still, the bokeh is the reason for this lens. I need to try it with better lighting.

Now, some of the images I captured on my walk. These look pretty good.

I like the filmic quality that some of these seem to have. The colors are pretty great, with minimal tweaks in post. I’m glad to see some much fall color around. Tomorrow, we’ll really put the X-T30 to the test.
