Shelter-in-Place with a New Raspberry Pi covid-19: day 22 | US: GA | info | act

It’s official: “Governor” Kemp has ordered us to shelter-in-place. I don’t think it changes too much for us. Two things get me:

  1. From the AJC: “The order also permits residents to visit places of worship, so long as social-distancing guidelines and other restrictions are followed, though Kemp has publicly wrestled over whether to impose stiffer limits on congregations.” 🤷🏼‍♂️
  2. From The Macon Telegraph: “Kemp explicitly stated that his order does not prohibit the sale of guns or ammunition.”

Yep, we’re still in the south. Sheesh.

Apparently, Amazon deems my Raspberry Pi and memory card as essential products—though not its case or power supply. Fortunately, I can do without both until they get here. My MacBook Pro’s power cube works nicely in a pinch. I also ordered a Pi Zero to run Homebridge from CanaKit in Canada, so who knows when that will arrive. I did receive a shipment notice, so that’s cool.

I plan to use this Pi as a web server. I do not like my install of Nextcloud on Synology, either, so I’m considering the Pi as an alternative. Yes, the storage will be severely cut, but it might work better. I guess I could always attach an external SSD for more storage, like this one, or this one? Maybe this adapter cable with a larger SSD. There are options.

Tonight, I grilled chicken wings, low-and-slow: about two hours at 250°. They were exceptional. It was a beautiful evening on the porch with Autumn and Henry. I hope we have more nights like this in our plague quarantine.
