Today is hot. Hot for London, that is. I met with my classes for the first time in London today, and despite the heat and noise, I think we’re off to a great start.

First Student Photos
It’s four days and counting. Yes, Thursday evening I jet off to London for five weeks of photography, travel, and beer. I can’t wait.
Exercise and Life
Exercise is like anything else in life that’s important: it must be practiced regularly and deliberately. It needs to be fostered in children from a young age if it’s going to have a life-long impact. To see how necessary this is, just look around you.
Pre-Flight
There’s still so much to do. With less than a month to go now, I still feel like I’ll never be ready. Yet, classes and plans are coming together, so I know all the hard work I’m doing now will pay off. It will. Seriously.
Growing Up Digital (Redux)
I received my first computer when I graduated from high school: an Eagle PC. Instead of getting what I really wanted — an Apple Macintosh — I had to settle for a generic IBM clone.

What makes a recording great? Why are there some disks that we go back to again and again. What are those qualities that come together to form the gestalts we call our favorite songs, artists, and disks? Why do certain bands sing to us in a way that others do not? What qualities do we seek in the tunes that become the soundtracks of our lives?
