I want to wish Mrs. Mary “Grannie” Jackson, my grandmother-in-law, a happy 94th birthday. We celebrated with her family yesterday, and I took a few pictures of the occasion. The gallery password is SarasotaFL.

Thanks to my friend and colleague Heather, Mom now has a new-used MacBook.
Yes, her Gateway POS finally died, and Mom couldn’t afford a new computer, so Heather was nice enough to give Mom an excellent deal on her old machine. Autumn and I took it up to Tim’s house where Mom was spending the weekend. We went to the mall, but the most fun was just hanging out. We got iChat all set up, as well as email, Safari, and a few games. Mom caught on pretty quickly. Let’s hope it integrates into her current wireless router at her house. If not, I put in an Airport Express, and I’ll just have to walk her through the setup.
Photos for the day are in my family gallery; the password is SarasotaFL. Enjoy. And, Mom, remember, if you have any trouble, just give Tim a call.
Last Sunday was my nephew Bryce’s second birthday party.
I met my father in Atlanta on Saturday night. He and I had dinner and a great evening of conversation, even meeting Tim at Carrabba’s. The next day was the party. Mom and Terry also came down for the event. There were at least a dozen others at Gymboree to celebrate by running and jumping and crying and screaming. Everyone seemed to have a great time, including yours truly. Sponge Bob even showed up on the cake.
Happy birthday, again, Bryce. Photos are posted in the gallery (the password is SarasotaFL).
Update: I have now uploaded photos from Connor’s birthday party on 2/21 (same password as above). Also see Jack’s new gallery.
Last Friday (I know I’m late posting) we celebrated Cheryl’s 51st birthday. We went to dinner at Bonefish Grill (I won’t go back, but that’s a story for another entry — let me give you a hint: do not take your camera into their restaurant), then returned to our house for dessert and presents. Autumn made an interesting pound cake and chocolate-covered strawberries. I have photos for the evening posted on the gallery with the usual family-only password. Photos from her 50th birthday party are also still on the gallery, in case you missed them.
Happy birthday, again, Cheryl. Many happy returns. (Well, maybe not to Bonefish.)
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Eat, drink, and be merry — I know that the latter usually comes with the former two. We’re in the mountains for the next couple of days visiting family and overindulging. Hope everyone is happy and remembers how privileged we are to live in the US.
More photos from our family get-together in my gallery. Email me for the password.
After five years, she’s still. . .

Dad sent me a comic today. By “sent,” I mean he cut it out of the newspaper, put it in an envelope, and mailed it to me. Even though I found it online, it’s cool to get real mail once in a while. That reminds me: I should write a letter or two.
Thanks, Dad.
