Much like other ideological constructs, happiness is supported by the desires of a people put into language. While the signifier — like most other abstract ideas — is difficult to specifically define, we all seem to know when we are happy, or at least unhappy.

Wasn’t There
I finally saw the Coen brothers’ latest film The Man Who Wasn’t There. Set in the fifties, this film was shot in black and white, and it updated some of the existential zeitgeist of that time and coupled it with postmodern ambiguity and decenteredness.
