Well, I wish.
For some reason, I woke up today thinking about the Mini Cooper S. I did take a photo of an older one yesterday; could that be it? Anyway, I test drove a 2008 Cooper S today (my reward for finishing my grading and thus the Spring semester) that had many extras and a pretty good price, from what I’ve seen. It was a lot of fun: very sporty and responsive — like a cross between a BMW 3-series and my old MR-2. Think: go-cart on steroids. I like the pepper white.
I’m going to try to talk A into going up to Atlanta on Saturday to test drive a couple. She doesn’t drive a manual transmission, and I won’t get an automatic Mini. There are other obstacles, like money, but it could be possible. Maybe not this year, but it would be a cool 40th birthday present.
Well, I wish.

A Mini is a dream of mine but I have a quandary similar to Autumn’s: I don’t drive stick-shifts (I *can*, but not reliably, consistently, or well) and buying a car like that as an automatic would seem kind of sad.
Hey–you already have a motorcycle and an iPhone. How much cooler do you think you need to be?
You do make a good point, but it’s more about fun. I’ve never had a car that I’ve really loved. I figure I’m due.
