Saturday did not just bring record cold temperatures. It was also the day we decided to take a trip to southwest Georgia and the land of of 39th president. The cold and the travel were unrelated. Thank goodness the day warmed up enough for us to actually be outside with our cameras.
Autumn and I met Giles and Phillip in Plains, GA, late Saturday. They were coming from Columbus while we left from our home base in Macon. We started by photographing the Plains High School, followed by the center of town, and ending with Jimmy Carter’s Boyhood farm. All can be seen in my Plains gallery.
Next was a quick stop and some lunch in Americus, just up the road from Plains. Americus is the home to the Winsor Hotel, a gorgeous Victorian-era building in the center of town. Pictures are in my Americus gallery.
We ended the day with a short tour through the Civil War memorial at Andersonville. This is actually the third time I’d been there, but it’s always a humbling experience. We arrived late, so we only had about an hour to take some photos. It was an excellent, albeit rushed, end to a great day. See my shots in my Andersonville gallery.
